Overall numbers

Numbers have almost doubled since last night.

# votes: 579,418
# questions: 7,060
# participants: 10,483
votes per participant: 55.3 (+0.8)
questions per participant: 0.7 (+/- 0.0)
votes per question: 82.1 (+0.7)

Top 10 list

And -- surprise, surprise -- the top 10 items are unchanged, except items #5, #6, #7 and #8 have swapped places.

1 / What will you do to establish transparency and safeguards against waste with the rest of the Wall Street bailout money?
2 / What will you do as President to restore the Constitutional protections that have been subverted by the Bush Administration and how will you ensure that our system of checks and balances is renewed?
3 / Will you lift the ban on Stem Cell research in your first 100 days in office?
4 / Will you appoint a Special Prosecutor - ideally Patrick Fitzgerald - to independently investigate the gravest crimes of the Bush
5 / What will you do to end the use of mercenary forces (ie Blackwater) by our military?
6 / What will you do to promote science and mathematics education to Elementary and Middle School students?
7 / What do you plan to do to our food industry to make it more sustainable? Will there be changes to our farming policies?
8 / What will you do first to reduce pollution/waste and incentivize greener behavior across the country?
9 / How long will it take for you to implement your healthcare policy to insure those who do not have any insurance at all?
10 / What will be done to make the banking industry accountable when there are so many substantiated stories about their mismangement in relationship to selling bank owned properties and managing potential foreclosures?

Top 10 weight

A few minutes later, at 590,261 total votes:

No. / Votes in favor / Votes against / Votes (sum total) / Percent of total votes
1 / 3786 / 304 / 4090 / 0.7%
2 / 3570 / 390 / 8050 / 1.4%

9 / 2066 / 420 / 28266 / 4.8%
10 / 1925 / 433 / 30624 / 5.2%

The top 10 questions attract 30,624 votes (positve and negative), or 5.2% of the 590,261 votes total (down from 5.3% last night).

By Rick Pedraza

Government monitoring of what Americans are doing in cyberspace has moved a bit closer to reality, as President Barack Obama announces plans to hand over authority to create an Internet ID for all Americans to the U.S. Commerce Department, a White House official tells CBS News.

obama, computer, personal, idThe plan, touted as the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, is raising eyebrows about privacy issues over concerns that creating a centralized database is an infringement on Americans’ rights. It is expected to be released in the next several months.

Calling it an “absolute perfect spot in the U.S. government" to create an "identity ecosystem" for the Internet, White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt said Friday during a business and academics forum at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research that issuing digital identities for web usage to all Americans will reduce cybersecurity vulnerabilities and improve online privacy protections.

Commerce Secretary Gary Locke agrees. "We are not talking about a national ID card,” Locke said at the Stanford forum. “We are not talking about a government-controlled system. What we are talking about is enhancing online security and privacy and reducing and perhaps even eliminating the need to memorize a dozen passwords, through creation and use of more trusted digital identities."

Schmidt added that his office will work with the Department of Homeland Security and the General Services Administration to implement the Internet ID strategy.
